Top Prospects perform in Sport Testing Combine

40 of the Canadian Hockey League’s top prospects for the 2020 NHL Draft were put to the test on Wednesday competing on and off the ice in advance of the Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.
The Sport Testing Combine conducted by the Okanagan Hockey Group offered all players in attendance the opportunity to showcase their individual strengths while gauging their fitness and skill levels among their peers for NHL management and scouts.
On-ice tests included forward and backward sprints, reaction, weave agility, and transition agility drills performed with and without the puck before the program shifted to off-ice performance measures that included strength testing, agility runs, and leg power evaluations.
Forward Jean-Luc Foudy of the Windsor Spitfires, ranked 20th by NHL Central Scouting in their Midterm Rankings, finished atop the overall standings in on-ice testing based on results across the 10 different categories. Jacob Perreault of the Sarnia Sting (ranked 17th by NHL CS) finished in second, followed by Quinton Byfield of the Sudbury Wolves (ranked 3rd by NHL CS) in third, defenceman Jamie Drysdale of the Erie Otters (ranked 3rd by NHL CS) in fourth, and forward Antonio Stranges of the London Knights (ranked 39th by NHL CS) finished in fifth.
Forward Jack Finley of the Spokane Chiefs, ranked 46th by NHL Central Scouting in their Midterm Rankings, finished atop the overall standings in the off-ice portion which factored performance results across the seven different fields. Byfield was next in line at number two, followed by defenceman Kaiden Guhle of the Prince Albert Raiders (ranked 7th by NHL CS) in third, Drysdale in fourth, and Foudy finished fifth overall.
In specialized Sport Testing for goalies, Brock Gould of the Moose Jaw Warriors (ranked 4th by NHL CS) claimed top honours in an array of short and long recovery, agility, and pad slide challenges.
