Sportsnet’s NHL Draft Rankings for January

 

Each month CHL on Sportsnet analyst Sam Cosentino compiles a list of the top 31 players for the NHL Draft.

January’s list is of particular interest following the World Junior Championship and in advance of NHL Central Scouting’s Midterm Rankings and ahead of this year’s Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game set for Thursday January 16 in Hamilton.

17 of the 31 players on Sportsnet’s list are from the Canadian Hockey League with 15 slated to compete in the annual showcase of top talent.

2. Quinton Byfield, C, Sudbury Wolves (OHL).

5. Marco Rossi, C, Ottawa 67’s (OHL).

6. Jamie Drysdale, D, Erie Otters (OHL).

8. Cole Perfetti, LW/C, Saginaw Spirit (OHL).

12. Dawson Mercer, C, Drummondville (QMJHL).

14. Braden Schneider, D, Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL).

17. Jack Quinn, RW, Ottawa 67’s (OHL).

18. Justin Barron, D, Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL)*

20. Connor Zary, C, Kamloops Blazers (WHL).

22. Mavrik Bourque, C, Shawinigan Cataractes (QMJHL).

23. Jeremie Poirier, D, Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL).

24. Hendrix Lapierre, C, Chicoutimi Sagueneens (QMJHL)*

26. Ryan O’Rourke, D, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL).

27. Jake Neighbours, LW, Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL).

28. Jacob Perreault, RW, Sarnia Sting (OHL).

29. Vasily Ponomaryov, C, Shawinigan Cataractes (QMJHL).

*named to original #CHLKTP roster but unable to compete due to injury.
